THE IMPONDERABILIA OF EVERYDAY EXISTENCE

Farewell 2011

Sometimes it feels like I take extra pain for a lost cause. This feels like one. I have been on many journeys and this will add to the erstwhile list. Yet again I am in the airport; for the third time within a span of a month. All flights have been delayed by two to three hours due to low visibility in the capital. Makes sense considering the fact that we were unable to see the traffic signal from a 50 metre distance while on the way to the airport. The terminal is flogged with passengers, so much so that I have decided to squat on the floor and concentrate on this post. I was prepared for this wait so I am calm and composed. So long as the flight takes off and I get to sleep in my bed tonight, I have no complaints.

This will also be my final post for the year. Now that I am trying to capture the year in words I don’t know where to start and end. 2011 has flown by in a jiffy. The beginning was good. I got an opportunity to travel on the pretext of attending weddings of some close friends. I went to Orissa and Haryana. I wanted to make it for a wedding in Sikkim but the plan was stalled. I also managed to explore Ladakh a wee bit, and ofcourse there was the impromptu visit to Singapore. Apart from visits, I also welcomed a few people in my life and bid adieu to the needful. Some lessons will go a long way while a few causes have already been forgotten. I got the registration formalities completed for the next semester so now there are just five months between me and the degree. I am extremely glad to have taken up this course. My research is taking shape and I cannot wait for the final submission already. I have a really good feeling about this. So all in all I think I have managed to have a reasonably memorable year.

I am not sure how we are ringing in the New Year tomorrow, but I am looking ahead for a fun filled evening and good company. Enough time has been spent self-reflecting and it is now time to indulge in the festivities. The only thing standing between me and 2012 now is a Spice jet take-off. Touchwood.
