THE IMPONDERABILIA OF EVERYDAY EXISTENCE

The summer agenda

Barely two days after the wedding and I have stepped into yet another one right away. My decision is to ignore past and possible future trends, reconcile and get involved. Early morning I was at our Tulkula’s residence with my eldest aunt to decide on an auspicious date for the reception. We now have May 3rd fixed for the same and preparations have now begun in full swing. I will be heading back to Delhi sometime next week so I need to squeeze in whatever I can during this period and then do the rest from the capital itself.

Sitting in that cosy room, patiently waiting for Tulkula as he skimmed through few sheets looking for a possible date, I realized how neck deep in tradition all of us are. No matter how many branded clothes we wear or how many leather bags we carry, at the end of the day we come back to our roots. Loptas and dates are very important. I would never want to go against my stars and take a chance. Same is the case with the rest for sure. Over the past two years, I seem to have entered a new phase wherein my mother’s knowledge is slowly being transferred to me. As children, we sometimes ridiculed some of the things that she believed in but today we stand behind her a hundred percent.

In the next two months I have to complete four chapters which seems like a mammoth task right now but I know I will get there soon enough. My summer itinerary has already been chalked out so now all that remains to be done is to take it a day at a time and get to the end point.
