THE IMPONDERABILIA OF EVERYDAY EXISTENCE

The Indian sun

As I walked the first few steps out of the AC compartment and the station, I thought to myself "I can do this". The heat wasn't much of a problem. Humidity was. And that came around with the arrival of monsoons which is still a month away. Once outside, the haggling with the autowalas began. The ride to campus was surprisingly alright. The deeper I got into the city, the more I felt I could do this. I still had the energy to fight the heat and the challenges that came alongwith it. Thankfully my room-mate was around when I reached the hostel. She had pinned the curtains to the grill so that hot air would not blow inside the four walls. Intelligent move.

After the much awaited shower, I made a mandatory visit to the mall. I must have spent some four hours in Promenade and Ambience so by the time I returned to my room, it was past eleven. Now that I am lying down rather comfortably and typing this post, I am starting to feel claustrophobic. A quick look at the weather app says it is 45 degrees tonight. This is a far cry from the 21 degrees I am used to back home. There was a time I was okay strugging but now I seem to be getting tired of this shit. I can't wait to finish the discussion with my supervisor and head home. I really hope she is in her office tomorrow.
