THE IMPONDERABILIA OF EVERYDAY EXISTENCE

Clueless

Slowly, but steadily, quite a few Sikkimese seem to be making an entry into the top bureaucracy. Last night I got the news that three people have cracked the UPSC this year. I could have been one of them too, had I been more focused and prepared, but this doesn’t make me any bitter. I have an examination to sit for this month and then I am thinking of going back to Delhi yet again for two weeks. Juggling this dissertation and a few crucial examinations has been very tiring for me but I cannot relax. My time is yet to come so I have to stay focused and keep trying.
Congratulating the groom as the bride looks on.
Meanwhile I attended the wedding of a childhood friend yesterday. His parents were very happy to see the father-daughter duo from our Syari days. When I saw the wedding invitation lying on the dining table, I knew I had to go. I used to walk all the way from Syari to school and back with this friend. The one time that a Maruti car nearly ran over my legs also took place in his company. Aunty informed me that the helper who used to take the two of us to school has done very well for himself and now his children go to TNA. Wow. Such a lovely feeling when you think of the past. I also had an opportunity to converse with an ex-CM of the state. What an honour really. He had a lot to say about the past and the present. I wonder if when I hit 80, I'll have as much to talk about. Almost hitting thirty in two years and I still feel clueless about what my future holds.
