THE IMPONDERABILIA OF EVERYDAY EXISTENCE

The Blue side of Manchester

From 1968 to 2012 -- A 44 year wait for Manchester City fans.

 Aguero looks on
Tonight I watched history in the making. Manchester City came back fighting from 2-1 to win QPR and subsequently the Barclays Premier League. The game was a finale every fan has dreamt of! The villian of the day was Joey Barton who picked up a Red card for a careless foul he committed on Tevez. Being a Captain, the term 'leading by example' seems to be lost on him. The latter, on the other hand, hasn't been playing his best ever since the row with his manager. Someone needs to tell the Argentine that the team is bigger than the player. Both, in the game against Newcastle United and tonight, he played miserably. This, ofcourse, is a personal opinion. For me the man of the match is Samir Nasri. The poor fellow played an exceptional game throughout the entire ninety minutes. Other than him, I have full respect for Aguero. Everytime he got the ball I would tell Mum he is Maradona's son-in-law. When he struck the winner in the final minute, he proved he is no less than his legend of a father-in-law. What a beautiful game it was! Both Dad and I literally jumped with joy from our seats when the goal finally sealed the league title for City.

I am a Chelsea fan and I know they stood sixth in the final league standings this season but City are still the blue boys of Manchester. I have always maintained that any team other than United or Liverpool are welcome to win the title. It is no fun watching the same teams lift the cup year after year. Mancini has done a great job ever since he took over the job from Hughes back in 2009. When the pre-match briefing was going on, a City legend stated that he was happy City was going to be (hopefully) crowned champions while he was still alive, otherwise maybe it would never have happened in his lifetime. This coming from a man who had himself lifted the Cup in 1968. It must be such an honour to witness something this big after such a long wait. On the other hand, I am happy QPR are not relegated. I hadn't realized that Wright-Phillips was playing for the Rangers until tonight. So, for his sake, I am pleased and look forward to seeing the White City team next season.

Also, thanks to football I am back in the world of blogging. I want to write so much more but I have a few chores lined up before I sleep tonight so good night to those who cared to read this post on football, for I know that not many share my love for the beautiful game. Cheers.
