After all that uncertainty and travelling, my life seems to have completed a full circle. Yes, I am back living my routine existence. The frequent bank visits, payments, transfers etc. With the wedding season back on, I have already enjoyed two weddings, attending a third day after and I came home today to be greeted by another wedding invite for the 13th. Yep, I am indeed back to old times once again.
Yesterday I finally got to meet Dengyal after a gap of more than two weeks. He gave me the loveliest surprise -- he cut his hair! This may come across as rather ridiculous to some of you but I can deal with every vice (when it comes to the significant other) except for long hair. I really think men are better off, and smarter as well, when they keep their hair short and tidy. So, after he brought a big smile on my face we took a round of our beautiful town square. We met his sister and cousins half way. After seeing each other in the saddest of conditions in the country capital, with all the dust, heat and humidity eating our skin and brains, I thought the three of us (including his cousin who is here all the way from Delhi for the wedding) looked rather polished for a change. Maybe this thought hadn't occurred to them but it made me laugh out loud.
After that relatively breezy evening, today was a challenging day. I spent nearly two hours behind the wheels, all thanks to the daily traffic jam during peak hours. It re-confirmed my belief that walking or taking the share taxi is a better way to travel around town than driving. After dropping Mum at her work place, I handed over the car keys to my brother and decided to walk to town. I had a number of chores to complete, plus buying a wedding gift was also part of my itinerary.
Now that I am resting in my room and pondering over yesterday, it feels like I never left home. Shillong, Guwahati, Delhi -- did all that really happen or was it a dream? Time has been moving really fast. With another journey, another change waiting to take place in a matter of a few days, I am the least bit excited. My aunts tell me that their Singtam is my Delhi. The former is a forty five minute drive from Gangtok. It seems my frequent round trips have left them feeling unenthusiastic. No wonder I am feeling this way! Things have been progressing well in the last couple of months so I am hoping that the following ten weeks are going to bear results in the not so distant future.
Time to put on the thinking cap and start working on my plan right away!
