You can crack jokes all night about women and tell us that we need to stop thinking too much and unnecessarily complicate our lives. You can relegate us to the background and expect us to play the role of the nurturer, the care-taker, the home-maker. You can stay out for late nights while we return home before the sun sets on us. All this and more you can unleash on us and we will bear it all. Because the one thing that we have that compensates for everything else is the power to give life.
Today I welcome my nephew into the world. A baby boy who I hope will enjoy a healthy life filled with joy and warmth. An aunt for the second time. Wow. I am shaking as I type this post. The excitement is just oozing out from every part of my body. Obviously concentrating on my writing is out of the question. Now I am waiting to get a glimpse of the tiny man. April seems so far away, so so far away!
