THE IMPONDERABILIA OF EVERYDAY EXISTENCE

A note on failure

For the first time in what seems like a million years, I am inspired. Inspired by a pair of kind eyes and a sad face that has a story written all over it. The person in question is my new found favourite celebrity- J.K. Rowling. Scanning youtube for all available videos on her, I am touched by a particular keynote speech she delivered at Harvard in 2008.
J.K. Rowling
"Had I really succeeded at anything else, I might never have found the determination to succeed in the one arena where I think I truly belonged. I was set free, because my greatest fear had been realized and I was still alive, and I still had a daughter whom I adored, an old typewriter and a big idea; and so rock bottom became a solid foundation upon which I rebuilt my life...

... Some failure in life is inevitable. It is impossible to live without failing at something. Unless you live so cautiously that you might not have lived at all, in which case you've failed by default."

Love and respect for the fighters. Love and respect for the survivors.
