A few days back I was on BBM chat with a friend from the UK. He announced that he was due to get married in October to a Burmese girl and the wedding was to take place in Thailand, where she is currently based. After the 'congratulations-I-am-so-happy-for-you' messages, I asked if his mother was excited to be travelling to Asia, to which he replied that she was okay with it since the wedding wasn't going to be a huge affair. The bride and groom had decided to have a small wedding and use the money thus saved to tour the United States for a month.
Maybe this makes sense to some, but I wouldn't want to compensate my wedding day for anything else. There is a lot to see and explore for sure but this can all happen in due course of time. Life might not be long but it is still enough for some travelling here and there. A wedding takes place once and it should be a memory that lasts forever. Instead of treading on my friend's path I would prefer to have a celebration. The idea is to have a little piece of my wedding in every person's memory. Not just random people we invite for the sake of inviting, but my loved ones, my family, relatives, friends, brothers, sisters.. the whole entourage! Is it too much to ask for? Therefore, as much as I respect my friend for all he is worth, this time I have to disagree with him.
