THE IMPONDERABILIA OF EVERYDAY EXISTENCE

Presentation time

I had a sleepless night. You ask me why? It’s because of a presentation I need to make today.  Now that the data collection part is almost over, I have a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with few Panchayats from all four districts. Being in the field and conducting these FGDs is easy because it is an informal setting, but doing this in the capital under the supervision of an officer is giving me the creeps. More than this though, I am psyched about my use of language. I would be better off presenting or conversing in English. Nepali is not my stronghold. I remember giving a ten minute speech for a climate change workshop in a village back in 2010. I used quite a few English terms for which I didn’t know the Nepali substitutes; therefore my speech went in through one ear and out the other. Atleast that’s what my colleagues present that day told me. Today I am going to test myself for a second time. To make it easier for the participants, I have made a powerpoint slide. Let’s hope this trick works for me.

  1. Hope ur presentation went well. our panchayats r not only known to have an extrmely short attention span, they also have a liking for short naps especially if the chair is comfy enuf...no matter how attractive the speaker.
