The thing I miss the most about my Saket flat is the life I had back then. It is something I cherish to this day. I always had a hectic week at the office, but once friday came around I would lay out my mattress in the living room and sit, eat, drink and sleep in front of the TV. Day time meant skimming through old movies on the hindi channels and evenings were reserved for EPL. No catching up with friends, no cooking fancy meals -- it was just me and the idiot box. Tonight as I watched Lampard silence his critics by way of a hatrick, I just had a big grin on my face.
I might come across as a very confident person but I am pretty shy inside. Face in the crowd. Yes. Centre of attention. No. For example, when PSP came to take me to a wedding last spring, I was uncomfortable. I am sure you already knew that eh, PSP? When he handed the bouquet outisde the crowded hostel entrance, my toes froze. Had he screamed out and said, "Give me a high five", I'd have done that in a jiffy, but this was different. I am so not used to being treated like a lady. This can also be arrived at from the fact that I am an SUV girl. I like the feeling of power. I was watching The Car and Bike Show on the side tonight with the anchor reviewing the new Mahindra XUV 500. Boy oh boy! I was pretty soon drooling over it.
Very often people have tagged me a tomboy. But when there are instances like the one where I was ironing a stole and a grasshopper (which I was told was a mantis later) was resting on the internet cable next to the plug point, I screamed and ran for my dear life, I realize I am a girl after all. I don't leave my room without eye liner and mascara. I suffer from OCD. I love anything to do with water- clothes, cars, dishes, you name it and I'll do it. These are but somewhat feminine qualities right? Therefore, I beg to differ when people call me a tomboy. I would say I'm a good balance, a healthy mix. So the kind of life I want is a cocktail of family, meaningful work, sensible writing, music, cooking and sports. It will be worthwhile to read this post a couple of years from now to know if I did reasonably well for myself. Somehow I just know I will. Touchwood.
