THE IMPONDERABILIA OF EVERYDAY EXISTENCE

Red cherry decides to die

The first thing I am going to tell you today is to never ever take your phone for granted. I spent a good five to six hours last night trying to figure out how to reset my phone back to working condition again.

It all started with the mystery deductions that have been driving me crazy. I am not much of a phone person in the sense that I do not like to call or sms much. My key to the outside world is via three applications -- Twitter, Whatsapp and BBM, in the same order. Therefore, when I started getting my balance deducted for no reason, I called up the Airtel customer care. They had no idea where the balance was being used up since the only value added service I had subscribed to was the Missed Calls Alert service (at Rs 15/- for three months).

I left it at that for a few weeks, actually perhaps for a month or two. Last night I noticed that my triple digit balance had been reduced to a mere one buck in the flash of a second. I sat there, in front of my room-mate's study desk, trying to figure out just where was this loop hole. I played a lot with the application permission settings but nothing worked so I finally accepted defeat and rebooted my Blackberry only to realize that now my real worries had begun. I kept getting this error message 'app error reset 200'. Overcome with a mix sadness and frustration, I decided to take a walk to the recharge shop located in the other end of the campus. Thankfully a junior gave me her spare Samsung phone which I was able to use immediately. Once back in my room, I spent half the night going from one forum to another, streaming you tube channels on the side about how to fix this particular error. After some four hours of trying, I was ready to give up when I came across this link:

This was my magic link. After installing all the required softwares, I was able to reset my phone and get it back to life again.

Unfortunately, all my contacts were erased. I have to start from scratch now. Almost three years of building contacts and adding on to their additional data has gone down the drain. So today I shall be busy setting up my phone, trying to get it back to how I liked it previously. If there are those of you reading this who are wondering why I have been silent lately, please do the needful and add me back onto your list. Thank you.
