THE IMPONDERABILIA OF EVERYDAY EXISTENCE

A beggar's worth

People suffer from all kinds of phobia.
"What is your phobia Seni?"
"Heights", says my roomie. "Also, I like Vampires but I don't like blood" is a quick addition to her impromptu reply.

PSP, on the other hand, has a different kind of phobia. He is shit scared of beggars and eunuchs. Just this afternoon, while we were heading back to the guest house, I suddenly saw this man sitting beside me panic. He placed a plastic bag on the lap and had his head at a ninety degree angle. Not that this bag had magic powers to make him invisible. Beggars of all sizes make him constrict like the python I carried in Thailand. His burly stature not withstanding, even the most innocent of faces can trigger a chemical reaction. It is amazing what ignorance can do. Today a midget came within one finger of a distance and Gulliver went berserk.

I am no less. Cockroaches, 0.00000000001 percent of my size, help me discover new talents. Running uphill, downhill, skipping multiple steps, all handled commendably when these small evils are within hundred yards. With another summer around the corner, I now need to prepare myself mentally for the ordeal I shall suffer in the months to follow. Wish me luck.
