THE IMPONDERABILIA OF EVERYDAY EXISTENCE

To PSP, with love

I must confess I am yet to read 'The Accidental Billionaires' but I watched the movie based on the same today. It helped me realize something. All great men seem to have some sort of a weirdness, some hunger in them that drives these characters to achieve greatness in (and/or after) their lives. Karl Marx spent the better part of his life in the library because he didn't have the necessary resources to buy books. Talcott Parsons spent his in the basement of his house and the only time he allowed himself some human interaction was when food was slid through a hole in the door. Antonio Gramsci was an Italian Socialist thinker who was greatly influenced by the likes of Marx and Croce. His 'Prison Notebooks', which are of great relevance today, were written during his eleven years in Fascist prison. As I learnt today, Mark Zuckerberg isn't any different.

Trudging along the lines of greatness is a fellow friend. PSP is at the brink of tasting success with his first book- a collection of short stories based on the Nepali diaspora. Being an ordinary blogger, it would do him injustice for a person like me to comment on his credentials as a writer because no matter how I pen it, it will never be good enough. I am not too sure if I should be mentioning this in a public blog site but I had the rare opportunity to read the manuscript and one doesn't need to be a genius to figure out that each story is going to have some audience relate to the sequence of events.

Still awaiting his official date with the 'right' publisher, PSP is dealing with his pre-wedding jitters at the moment. We chat often nowadays and every development inches him closer to the well deserved end. He made front page news recently and the excitement generated by his yet-to-be published book is hitting all the right notes. I am attaching a link to the said interview with The Week, Kathmandu. Join me in wishing my friend all the very best.
