THE IMPONDERABILIA OF EVERYDAY EXISTENCE

An unexpected reunion

It always happens that when I have nothing to do, I really have nothing to do; and when I have a few events lined up for the day, all hell breaks loose! I spent all of yesterday in the Centre. I was supposed to have my viva around noon, but the seminar stretched for a while so there I was, trying my best to soak up the little sunshine available in patches around the main campus, nervously waiting for a call from my supervisor. When she finally did call, it was merely to inform me that the viva would have to be postponed until evening. Then, I decided to proceed towards CP to collect the passports from the VFS centre. Even though the lady behind the counter had asked me to collect the same between 2-5 pm, the passports did not arrive from the embassy until as late as 3:30 pm so yet again, for the second time in a day, my patience was tested. By the time my token number was announced, it was past 4 pm already, but I was still able to get back to the University in time for the viva. My external examiner was a very sweet lady. I'm ashamed to say this but I still don't know her name. She quizzed me about a few things in my dissertation but, overall, I had a good experience answering the same. Once the viva was over, I rushed back to my hostel to prepare for the main event of the day. It was Munni's wedding reception tonight and I had all of thirty minutes to get ready before the taxi arrived!

Before we got to the venue, Dengyal lost his cool with the taxi driver. That was the one low moment in the what-was-going-to-be a memorable evening. Once we got to the venue it got better and better. It was one of the most unplanned reunions in such a long time. The only person missing was our Ex-Captain and his wife. My friends, especially my closest friends in this particular circle, are very important to me. As mentioned in a previous post, all of us are now busy in our lives, chasing different dreams but we've always made it a priority to stay in touch. I met Sally after the longest time today. In a way I am glad that we postponed our December meeting for now because we had a lovely evening together. She said that I had always been an exclusive person -- disappearing from facebook, not updating her on the latest happenings etc. and, unfortunately, I had to agree. I have been shying away for sometime now, so I have decided to keep in regular touch starting tonight. Apologies Sally. Last night was also a perfect opportunity for Dengyal to spend quality time with my friends. I know this comes across as rather hilarious but I really can't find any other words to justify my thoughts. He has taken to my friends like fish to water and vice versa. Ever since his first formal introduction to Jd and Ak during our trip to Guwahati, I knew it was a win-win both ways. It is extremely important that they get along since they will be seeing a lot of each other in the years to come. And from what I know, I could be the third person here. Sometimes I really do feel like he has known them longer than I have and this gives me immense happiness, really.

The Hindu lot :D
The new age Krishna :D
Just us girls :D
To sum up, all elements in the universe of a certain Cyden are positioned rightfully so. My new year has kicked off with a bang. Let us hope that this is just an introduction to what is in store in the next 350 plus odd days. Cheers to lasting friendships.
