THE IMPONDERABILIA OF EVERYDAY EXISTENCE

A bride's delight

I attended a wedding today. It wasn't like the ones I've attended in the past. The atmosphere was peaceful with no music drowning multiple conversations. Alcohol and non vegetarian items were a no show. It might seem odd to those used to having a gala time during such occasions but I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Simple yet elegant, that's how I would describe it. The Lepcha girl, my neighbour's daughter, was getting married to a Tamilian. A very interesting union I would say. She looked beautiful in her traditional attire while I have a few reservations about the groom. The latter coming from a vegetarian and teetotaler background, it was only fair that the menu reflected the same.

I'm sure weddings are extremely important for the couple who are set to be united. It is your big day after all and you want to look the best. Every wedding I've attended I've seen the brides glow through and through. I don't remember coming across a rather unpleasant looking bride till date. My own sister looked like a dream the day she got married. It must be the happiness and the anticipation of what lies ahead that makes girls radiate with joy. I wonder what'll happen to me the day I finally decide to tie the knot. The thought actually scares the living daylights out of me.
