There was a time when a popular Bollywood actor danced to the tunes of a song called “Sexy, Sexy, Sexy”. Within the first few days itself, all hell broke loose. The moral police were looking for an apology from the film’s director and lyricist. What would the children learn from such songs? What kind of example was it setting forth? These were the arguments thrown by the former. Pretty soon a newer modified version of the same song was released and this time instead of the word sexy we were introduced to baby. Contentment.
Today while the copyright for Dabangg belongs to the (baby) boys, ask any five year old girl to dance to a popular Hindi song and you’ll be entertained with a Sheila ki jawani performance. No one seems to have any objection to the lyrical contents. So when my niece sings “I’m too sexy for you” during one of her numerous dance sequences, I seem to enjoy it. I am but blown away by her choreography which is a carbon copy of the original item, than be worried about the words she is so happily crooning.

With changing times, are we getting more adjusting as a society?
After all adjust is what we Indians do best.
One bus, two seats, three (squeezed) people, “Bhai saab thoda adjust kar lo”.
A known face skips the line at the bank, “Bainila alikati adjust gar dinus na”.
We seem to be well on our way to getting there or so it seems at least.
