Here is an honest poem I wrote as a young girl in college. I happened to come across this piece of crumbled paper yesterday which brought back some good old memories. Who remembers their first love? Wasn't it wonderful to discover a whole new dimension to loving? Cheers to life's wonderful surprises.
It wasn't a long time back when all my dear friends
Would fall in and out of love
And try to follow the latest trends..
I used to laugh at them and at the idea of being in love,
For me real love never existed
And it was some kind of a bluff..
But since I've met you I've really changed,
And all my inner thoughts
Have become wholly rearranged..
I find it very funny now to realize I'm feeling this way,
It's a really funny feeling
And I don't know what to say!
Sometimes I'm smiling, sometimes I'm sad
Sometimes I get angry and sometimes I'm so very glad..
You've affected my life in each and every way,
Now without your thoughts
I don't seem to pass a single day..
I don't know just how long this feeling is going to last,
I just want you to be mine
And I want it to be fast..
Maybe you don't like me or maybe you do care,
But to ask you to love me
Is something I wouldn't dare..
Now I know why without love people don't survive,
So I just want to thank you
For bringing love into my life.
If love could be just memories away there is no better way but penned it in the innocence of those carefree days...
ReplyDeleteP.S - Love: A euphemism for longings.
even then it wasn't about getting a return. the girl is thanking the person 'for bringing love into her life'.. this is what makes me smile whenever i read this piece.
ReplyDeletelet me rephrase this way...
ReplyDeleteIf love could be just memories away what better way than penned it through the innocence of those carefree days...
How much each one of us long for those memories in different form, be it in a chrome/b&w photo or stained brown letter that has been etched by the test of time and silver fish...
