THE IMPONDERABILIA OF EVERYDAY EXISTENCE

Confessions of a shoeaholic

Which girl doesn’t like a good pair of shoes? It starts right from our childhood. Some girls have a fetish for bags but shoe shopping tops everyone’s list and I am no different. From the first day we learn that we have the purchasing-bargaining power, a story starts unfolding. Every pair of sandals, every sneaker has a story to tell. Some maybe attached to happy memories while some maybe heart wrenching. Shoes have come a long way now. I believe that what goes around comes around and it applies to fashion as well. Thank god my aunt kept all her junk jewellery and certain clothes carefully locked in a trunk because it is coming handy now.

A few months back I came across this really interesting line in one of my favourite sitcoms and I have been planning to write a blog on it since then. The love for shoes, as I mentioned earlier, is inherent in every girl. My favourite way of looking at it is in comparison to men. Like I said, different shoes different stories, similarly different men different stories. Men form an integral part of a woman’s life and vice versa. Shoes can signify men in a very subtle way. For instance, my metallic silver open toe heel reminds me of the good times I had with a certain someone during a wedding celebration. Likewise, my black strappy sandals remind me of Sikkim party ’04. So you see what I am trying to say is whenever we buy a shoe we also make way for a new memory to fill our ever surprising lives. Some shoes remind me of people I don’t want to remember while a few others give me a warm feeling. As of now my state is a little messy and I am not sure I want to go shoe shopping for a long time. What is your story?
