THE IMPONDERABILIA OF EVERYDAY EXISTENCE

My Teachers Day

Yes, I know. I have been away for some time. The truth is that nowadays I don't feel like writing. It is not like I have tons of work piled on my desk. As usual, I am juggling a few tasks but nothing that wont give me fifteen minutes every once in a while for some soul searching. But today was an altogether different experience. It is something that I have to capture in this blog.

5th September during my school days was a time when I had the opportunity to showcase my non-existent dancing skills. Back then Backstreet boys and N'Sync were the chart busters. I have lost count of how many dance items we showcased to the teen audience. Today 5th September acquired a new meaning in my life. Because today I finally crossed over to the other side.

"My Adorable Ma'am"
The day was a beautiful memory for me, one that I will talk about in the coming years. The students enthralled us with special performances. We had lots of singing and dancing. There was a point when one of the students sang a Raju Lama song and our Commerce Sir took to the stage. Pretty soon other teachers joined in as well and I was the only one left sitting. I did want to shake a leg or two myself, but being dressed in my traditional garb disallowed such indulgence. Towards the end of the programme, we were asked to pick a chit from a box. This was written on the one I picked - "Sing a song, Chura liya hai tumne jo dil ko". Singing in public is something I am least nervous about but here I was supposed to sing in front of my students! When it was finally my turn to get up on the stage, I managed to sing just fine and even sneaked in a few moves. To sum it up, I had a lovely time. Seeing students working hard to put up an entertaining show for us made us appreciate their efforts.

With the day coming to an end, I wish to thank all my teachers for making me the person I am today. Specifically, I would like to thank my greatest teacher, my father, for inculcating the values of kindness and sincerity in me. Your lessons will surely take me a long way down the road.
