Wishes II

For the last few weeks, I have been thinking of ways to start a poem but try hard as I did, I was unable to come up with the introductory lines.. and then a thought occurred. I knew I had the poem with me all along. Written below is an edited version of my poem dedicated to Dengyal on Valentines day. Maybe this was meant for him all along.

Wishes

If I could demand wishes
And if indeed wishes came true
I would wish for the blessing
To always be with you,
I would wish for the laughter
To fill your kind heart,
And memories to surround you
To let you know we are never apart.

Then I would wish for the strength to make decisions,
To always be practical and strong,
I would wish for love, peace and joy
To be with you all day long,
Good health, great friends and safety
And food (of that I’m sure)
And when you’d have it all
I would go ahead and wish for some more.

If I could have wishes
And if wishes did come true
I would wish for years of happiness
And give them all to you,
A peck on the cheek,
A prayer in my heart
I would wish all these and more
And go right back to the start.
