Love: The follow up

I had written a small article on this topic some years back. Needless to say I was a little naive then. 6 years down the line I have experienced, maybe not all, but at least a part of this emotion. Crushes, flings, break ups are all part and parcel of everyone’s life. I always believed that it is necessary to take a stand and just take life as it comes. If things are meant to happen then they will happen any which way. Wrong! Nothing can be planned in life when it comes to this. It is not just one person we are talking about here. It takes two to work things out in the right way and while one is totally dedicated, the other is always a weaker link. In my ex-relationship, I was the latter. I have seen this among my friends, family and dear ones as well.

Being overtly romantic is something I could never achieve. My ex used to say, ‘You are stone hearted’, ‘You are way too practical in life’, ‘You are this and that’. It was always me but I just couldn’t help it. I dont know if I was the one to blame but I never really took any steps to improve myself. Just like millions of other girls, I thought I could be the agent of change in his life. I could make him a better and a wiser person. To all you girls who think like me- NEVER stay under this misconception. Let’s try focusing on our own short comings and work towards improving them for a change. This way we can only get stronger and better. Let them boys be left alone. They are grown ups too and can fend for themselves.

When one talks about love, it doesn’t always have to be taken the way most of us automatically do. One could also talk about love for your parents, your sister, brother, friend etc. To tell you the truth I think most of life’s problems and most of everyone’s problem revolves around this. Whether you are a celebrity or a normal simple person, you are fighting one and the same battle. Only the intensity may differ. If so weren’t the case, then why does a certain Britney have so many complications in her life? Why is Lindsay writing songs about her father? Divorce is becoming as frequent as eating among them. Don’t celebrities like them have everything? Don’t we envy them to the extent that we want to switch lives with them?

At the end I just want to say that, for me, love is somewhat a utopian concept now. I have understood that there is never a time when you can experience the full emotion, unless you are truly blessed that is. I particularly happen to fall into the unlucky category so taking life one day at a time is what I’m going to do from now on. To those whom I’ve proved to be a disappointment--Don’t love me, Don’t hate me but please do like me.
